Markets
Paddington Markets Every Saturday, 10am to 4pm (rain or shine). 395 Oxford Street, Paddington. Over 150 stalls selling Australian-made fashion, jewellery, handmade ceramics, art and gourmet food. A growers market operates from 9am, and a yoga class runs from 8:30am to 9:30am in the church. Running since 1973.
Double Bay Fresh Produce Market Every Thursday at Guilfoyle Park, Double Bay. A small weekly market with local produce, flowers and specialty food stalls.
Art and exhibitions
Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf 548 New South Head Road, Double Bay. Council-run contemporary art gallery in a heritage building overlooking the harbour. Free admission. Hosts approximately 36 exhibitions per year, plus artist talks, workshops and performances. Also home to the annual Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize and the Artist in Residence program. Open: Wednesday 1pm to 6pm, Thursday to Friday 10am to 6pm, Saturday to Sunday 10am to 5pm.
Art2Muse Gallery Jersey Road, Woollahra. A commercial gallery showing contemporary Australian art across painting, sculpture and photography.
Oxford Street galleries Paddington has one of the highest concentrations of commercial art galleries in any Australian local government area. Galleries are generally open Tuesday to Saturday, with many participating in coordinated events during Art Month Sydney.
Library events (free)
Woollahra Libraries operate at three locations: Double Bay, Paddington and Watsons Bay. All events below are free but some require booking. Check woollahra.nsw.gov.au/Library for the latest schedule.
Rhyme Time (ages 0-2) Weekly sessions at Double Bay Library. Songs, rhymes and movement for babies and toddlers. During school terms.
Story Time (ages 3-5) Weekly sessions at Paddington Library and Watsons Bay Library. Stories, songs and activities. During school terms.
WonderLab Hands-on science experiments for primary-school-aged kids. Held periodically at Double Bay Library.
Tech Help Free one-on-one tech support sessions for anyone needing help with devices, apps or digital skills. Available at Double Bay Library. Bookings required.
Justice of the Peace Free walk-in JP service: Paddington Library on Monday mornings, Double Bay Library on Thursday and Friday mornings.
Walking groups
Rose Bay Walking Group Every Wednesday, 8:45am to 9:45am. Meet at Rose Bay Ferry Wharf. Free, all fitness levels welcome. Runs rain, hail or shine. Organised by Woollahra Council.
Fitness and wellness
Murray Rose Pool (Redleaf Pool) Open year-round for harbour swimming. New South Head Road, Double Bay. A tidal harbour pool with views across to Clark Island. Free entry.
Cooper Park Walking tracks, a creek trail and the famous Cooper Park steps (a popular workout route) in Bellevue Hill. Open dawn to dusk, free.
Trumper Park 400-metre running track open to the public from 6am daily. Sports oval, cricket nets and playground. Ocean Street, Edgecliff.
Community and discussion groups
Woollahra Philosophy Club A discussion group exploring philosophical topics. Runs periodically. Check Eventbrite for upcoming sessions.
Woollahra Women’s Chat Group Regular social meetups for women in the Woollahra area. Check Eventbrite for dates.
Annual events
Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize Annual award for small sculpture (under 80cm), hosted at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf. One of the LGA’s most high-profile cultural events. Usually held in the second half of the year.
Celebrate Double Bay An open-street festival on Bay Street with food, fashion, live music and community activities. Usually held annually.
Woollahra Festival of Fun A council-run community festival with activities for families, kids events and a sunset concert.
Neighbour Day Last Sunday of March. A national event encouraged by Woollahra Council for residents to meet their neighbours.
City2Surf Second Sunday of August. The famous 14km fun run from the CBD to Bondi Beach passes through Rushcutters Bay, Double Bay, Rose Bay and Vaucluse via “Heartbreak Hill” on New South Head Road.
